I haven't posted a report in a long time, so here goes!!

Had the pleasure of running my first charter trip in about five years with Bruce and Lisa Baron, the lucky winners of the "Hook, Line and Sinker Seminar Series" guide trip raffle. The plan was to get some legal redfish for dinner and then hit the beach for bull redfish, and finally, some grouper in the bay.

Started out this morning at 7am in Blackwater on a dead-low tide with exposed sandbars and mud banks everywhere. I enjoy this scenerio as large groups of redfish fall into the deeper pockets well off the bank. Threw tiny 1/8oz. Johnson Gold Spoons into depressions and sparce schools of medium-sized mullet in 10-18" of water. An extremely slow yo-yo retrieve was the key and it produced some quality fish between 23-26". Also picked up a nice trout and saw several redfish while buzzing pockets in some backwater areas. Maybe with the pushpole next time.

Put the Maverick on the trailer at 10am, and picked up the bigger boat to run the beach for bull redfish. Weather didn't cooperate and the beach was too rough to checkout. Found a few groups of birds in the bay with no fish under them. Decided to grab some livebait and hit the grouper. Could only find small bait. As a result, two short grouper. Started raining and headed in.
