| Took foot off my motor last week to clean out my piss tube sucked up some sand wasnt pissing. When I put foot back on i lost reverse and neutral. Cranks in forward gear. What could have happened and what can i do to correct it? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

| Your shift shaft (or what ever you call it) probably got turned while the lower unit was off. Your going to have to pull it back off and manually get it back in the proper gear. More than likely neutral. Oh and make sure the lower unit and the controls on the boat match as to what gear it's in. Been there, done that, have the T-Shirt from the last time I took my foot off.

A little info as to make and model of the motor is always helpful, but what Knot a Yacht said is true. Some models have a habit of slipping into gear due to the wieght of the shaft. If this happens, just put the control in gear. Tighten one bolt and shift to nuetral and fwd to make it works properly.
