ICW 90MPH Wind-Flood Rain-Specks Specks 12/10/08
Launched under the 59 Bridge into the ICW in Lightning--Strong Wind--Thunder. Got to the first spot--Bud had the first Speck on---and so it went. Plenty of Specks--Skip Jack and Small Reds. They hit shrimp--grubs and plugs. Then the rain started--plenty of Hard-Heavy-Boat Filling Rain. I asked my fishing partner to hit the Bilge Pump---nothing. Its amazing how fast a hard rain can fill a boat and there is no bailing a Bass Tracker Boat. So off to the Boat Ramp we went--put the boat back on the trailer and drained it. End of fishing trip. I didnt take many pic--raining to hard and cant get Camera wet. But the fish are there--plenty of them.
As we were taking out a couple staying across the ICW in a camper park drove up. They said they watched us launch at daylight and wanted to meet the men who would go fishing in weather like that. Nice people. Got Damp--Time to go--Home--hot bath--Warm Clothes--Nap Time.

Ya got a pair, that's for sure.

How about telling me how you were catching the specks?
Tight against the bank or out a ways?
How deep and what presentation?

My ex-paw-in-law lives on the ICW and hasn't caught many fish from his dock.
Thought I'd take him on a boat and show him what he's missing!!!

The ICW can be a very good place---but it takes some trial/error. Find some structure-pilings-stumps or bridges. The Foley By-Pass Bridge  over the ICW has most of this. LULUs at 59 HY bridge has most of what i look for. LULUS marina and other Marinas-finish and unfinished all hold fish. The rock wall on the ICW will hold Reds and Black drum.

The ICW in Baldwin Co is a little differant than the ICW in Fla. The water is a little more sheltered. Dont forget trolling---just bounce a shrimp/grub off the bottom--hold on. As with any fishing--Weather--Tide--Time Of Day has a lot to do with catching fish--Good Luck--BT66

Today we didnt fish very long but we caught fish in 3-8 feet of water close to stumps and other man made structure. I feel confident that we could have caught some Reds and plenty of specks had the weather not turned bad.BT66

Thanks for the report.  Can't wait for our next trip to Alabama.
