OK , I knew someone would ask.

96 +86+ 91= 273 Divided by 3 is 91.

I see where you got the 96 deg, and the 86 deg, but what thin air (actually I was thinking of somewhere else) did you pull the 91 deg out of? I'm just wondering The math you have there is correct. But like said before...too damn hot

I thought he may have come up with 93.

without the formula

Average between 86 and 96 = 91

93 and 91 average 92. Wrong I know but there is some reasoning at least.

Ok average temp is in the middle, Right?

Wrong!  You are confusing median and mean.

The number thats in the middle is called the MEDIAN.  The MEAN (or average) of the data set you provide is 92.  The median is NOT neccesarily always equal to the mean (average)...as in this case, and caused you to get a wrong answer.

Median = 91    Mean = 92

Come-on Man.  What grade math is this?  Oh yea...4th grade.

The question is "What is the temp on the 3rd day?" If the  first day was 96 and the second day was 86. 96+86=282 282/2=91 The first 3 days are irrelevant to this question.
