The foam egg crate insulation in my engine compartment is rotting out after 9 years...  any better product to replace it with?

I'll be glueing it to be place upside down under the deck.

I'll need 50 square feet or so.

Thanks,

Jim

There is the aluminum coated stuff that is pretty good, but for a lot of curves and having to bend it in place, foam is a good all around.

I recommend "soundown" product (http://www.soundown.com/AI.htm) - that is what we generally use here at work and what I used my boat, a 24' Topaz with a diesel - it is amazing how much quieter it is.  There are several places you can get it online too, just do a google search.

I also went with the 2 lb/ sq ft - the heavier the rating, the more dampening you will get.  I suggest getting the studs to mount it - they can be epoxied or screwed fastened, and use their seam tape.  You are welcome to check out mine if you want (I'm in Foley, Al).
